The TR-2 is Boss's simple, classic tremolo, and owners like its warm tone. It keeps things basic with Rate, Wave and Depth, but there are two things to know. First, it has no level or mix control, which matters if you run wet/dry or stereo setups. Second, it is known for a slight volume drop when you switch it on. Both are fixable on older units: a Keeley or Analogman mod adds a level or mix knob (often a neat dual-concentric control) and sorts the volume drop, though newer TR-2s cannot be modded, so people add a boost instead. If you want more, owners weigh it against the EHX Pulsar and Super Pulsar, which several find better sounding and which have a level control, and pedals like the TC Pipeline that add level and tap tempo.
