About the PRS SE Custom 24
The SE Custom 24 is the lower-priced SE version of the original PRS Custom 24. Earlier ones were built in South Korea by World Musical Instrument Co.; current ones are built in Indonesia. Korean serials start with a letter for the year (J on a 2009, P on a 2015, Q on a 2016), and Indonesian ones read CTI plus a year letter (C on a 2020, F for 2023, G for 2024, H for 2025).
It has a mahogany back, a maple top with a flame maple veneer, a set three-piece maple neck with the Wide Thin carve, a rosewood board with bird inlays, 24 frets on a 25 inch scale, a 10 inch radius and a 1 11/16 inch (42.9 mm) nut. Two 85/15 S humbuckers run through a volume, a push-pull tone that splits the coils and a three-way switch; the bridge is PRS's molded tremolo. Three changes matter: older ones have a beveled top where the current version has a shallow violin carve; older Korean ones carry earlier SE humbuckers rather than the 85/15 S pair; and the current version adds lampshade knobs and a flat-grip switch tip. Weighed examples come in at about 7.3 to 8.3 lb (3.3 to 3.75 kg), and necks measure about 0.79 to 0.82 inch deep at the first fret and 0.86 to 0.93 inch at the 12th. A new one comes in a PRS gig bag with the tremolo arm and 10-46 strings. Colors include Charcoal Burst, Slate Blue, Black Gold Burst, Bonnie Pink and Trampas Green.
