About the PRS SE McCarty 594
The SE McCarty 594 is the double-cutaway McCarty 594 in the PRS SE line, the first time the model appeared there. The body is mahogany with a slightly thicker back, under a maple top with a flame maple veneer, a shallow violin carve and natural maple binding on the top edge; body and neck are finished in gloss polyurethane. The set mahogany neck is a bound multi-ply build in the Pattern Vintage carve with a double-acting truss rod. Spec sheets give it as 7/8 inch deep at the first fret and 63/64 inch at the 12th, with a 1 11/16 inch nut and 2 1/4 inch of width at the body. The rosewood board carries bird inlays and 22 PRS SE jumbo frets (.110 inch wide, .055 inch tall) on a 10 inch radius, and the 24.594 inch scale is where the 594 name comes from.
The two 58/15 LT S humbuckers are low-turn pickups, wound with fewer turns of wire. Each has its own volume and its own push-pull tone, which splits that pickup to a single coil, and a three-way toggle sits on the upper bout. The bridge is the PRS two-piece unit in zinc and brass, with closed-back vintage-style tuners. Weighed examples come in at about 6.8 to 7.5 lb (3.1 to 3.4 kg), most near 7 to 7.3 lb. A new one comes in a PRS SE gig bag, strung with PRS Classic 10-46 strings. Colors include Vintage Sunburst, Black Gold Burst and Charcoal.
