About the Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s P-90
This is the Original Collection '50s Les Paul Standard fitted with two P-90 single coils; dated examples run from 2019. The P-90s are soapbar types with Alnico 5 magnets, wired by hand without a circuit board, with audio taper pots and Orange Drop capacitors, to two volume and two tone controls and a three-way switch. Around them: a mahogany body with no weight relief under a carved maple top, a set mahogany neck with the rounded '50s Vintage profile, a bound rosewood board with a 12 inch radius, 22 medium jumbo frets and trapezoid inlays, a 24.75 inch scale and a 1.695 inch (43 mm) Graph Tech nut. Hardware is nickel: ABR-1 bridge, aluminum stop bar, Vintage Deluxe keystone tuners, gold top hat knobs. It is finished in gloss nitro and made in the USA, and the serial's first and fifth digits give the year (205410081 is a 2021).
The solid body shows on the scale: weighed examples come in at about 8.4 to 10.3 lb (3.8 to 4.7 kg), most between 9.3 and 10 lb. Measured necks are about 0.87 to 0.94 inch deep at the first fret and 0.99 to 1.03 inch at the 12th. A new one comes in a Gibson hardshell case with a strap, a multi-tool, a blank truss rod cover and paperwork. The regular finishes are Goldtop and Tobacco Burst; dealer exclusives and custom orders such as British Racing Green, Electric Emerald Green and an Ebony top turn up too.
