The Slash Collection Les Paul Standard arrived in January 2020 as an unlimited Gibson USA line, no numbered run this time: four finishes at launch (Appetite Burst, November Burst, Vermillion Burst and Anaconda Burst), then a Goldtop, a left-handed Appetite Burst and, later, the Jessica. It launched at about USD 3,000, GBP 2,599 or EUR 2,999, roughly 500 above a plain 50s Standard, and UK dealers were clearing them at GBP 1,999 within a year.

Under the finish it is a 50s Standard with the artist's touches: a AAA flame maple top on a solid mahogany body with no weight relief, the thicker 50s C neck, Gibson's own Slashbucker Alnico II humbuckers, hand-wired electronics with orange drop capacitors, hardware coloured to match the finish and a brown vintage-style case. The case holds a signed truss rod cover plus a blank one, Ernie Ball strings, Dunlop Tortex picks, a certificate and the pickguard, which ships uninstalled: there is no pilot hole for it, so once fitted it stays. The front of the headstock carries no artist logo; the Scully skull drawing is on the back, a change from the front silkscreen of the 2008 to 2013 signature models. Owners who bought one talk about a top-tier USA Standard: incisive, a lot of presence, pickups that scream, a neck that feels close to a 59 reissue, and for several it became the main guitar over their custom shop models. The sceptics see a regular Standard with a different coat and a premium, tops that look cheap in dealer photos and none of the collectability of the numbered runs.
