About the Tokai LS-201S
The LS-201S is the Premium Series P90 gold top of Tokai's 2024-onward catalogue, the LS198S and, further back, the LS160S of 2010 under the new numbering, a lacquer-finished Japanese Love Rock that weighs a ton with good wood; it is the P90 sister of the LS201 and LS214, which carry a one-piece back, Gotoh aluminium stop tailpiece and brass-saddle tune-o-matic. Finding one means watching the Japanese shop sites daily, Digimart, with a proxy such as Zenmarket to buy the moment one appears, since Reverb and eBay run about 25 per cent dearer than buying direct, though from Japan to some countries the difference is negligible; the big Tokyo dealer ships within days and refunded USD 150 for a binding defect, offering to pay shipping both ways to fix it.

A new LS-201S sounded and played amazing straight out of the box, the perfect complement to its owner's LS364, the two best guitars that owner has had, and it absolutely rips AC/DC, another owner simply loves theirs, and one who sold a 2010 remembers good wood and a good sound, if a ton of weight.
