About the Tokai Love Rock LS-60
The LS-60 was one of the two entry models of Tokai's first Les Paul-style range, a step above the LS-50: a two-piece solid plain maple cap where the LS-50 had three pieces, on the lower-tier specification, a thin polyurethane finish that checks like lacquer, a 14-degree headstock, chrome hardware and Tokai humbuckers wired through a circuit board with 250k pots. The 18-degree headstock, nitro and nickel hardware only begin at the LS-80. The same guitar wore three headstock names: Les Paul Reborn (1978-79), Reborn Old (a few months of 1980) and Love Rock from 1980 on; the 1978s carry inked rather than stamped serial numbers, the so-called inkies.
Owners date their vintage LS-60s from 1978 to 1985, and the name returned on Japanese-made Love Rocks in the late 1990s and 2000s. From 1983 the specification drifted: 1984-85 examples carry a figured veneer, some a 17-degree headstock and one-piece back, and the export models of those years a dimpled headstock, so a mid-80s LS-50, LS-60 and LS-80 are told apart by veneer, nibs and finish rather than by the catalogue. A solid flame top on an LS-60 is an anomaly, not a spec. Early examples carry the model number stamped into the fingerboard behind the last fret and, on 1978s, in the neck pickup cavity; many later ones carry no mark and are identified from the catalogue of their year.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 62 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. The line follows the middle of the sales around each point, with the middle half behind it, and breaks wherever nothing sold nearby. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 74 discussion threads among 57 owners, 2021-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
Owners date their vintage LS-60s from 1978 to 1985, with 2000s examples alongside, and the praise is consistent for an entry model: it sounds thick and resonant, several say it matches or beats the Gibsons they own, more than one calls it their number one after decades of other guitars, and the LS-50 and LS-60 are called underrated and said to age as well as the dearer models. Two weighed examples came in at 4.1-4.2 kg, and weight is the recurring complaint: one owner sold his for that reason and another wishes his were lighter. The stock electronics divide the room, several rewire the circuit board and swap the pickups and describe it as lifting a blanket off the sound, while others keep everything original and are happy. Selling one is a regret repeated across the threads. For a modern one, the Made in Japan line under the lacquer on the back of the headstock and the two-screw truss-rod cover separate a Japanese Love Rock from a Chinese one; Korean-built Love Rocks with no serial number also circulate and are sometimes taken for an LS-60.
