The Springy Sound is Tokai's Stratocaster of the late 1970s to 1983, and the one the lawsuit stories are about: the spaghetti Tokai logo on a Fender-shaped headstock brought Fender's UK distributor and CBS to court in 1982, the last batches shipped with a black block logo, and the line became the Goldstar Sound. The grades, ST-42 to ST-100, are the yen prices of the day: the lower grades carry U-stamped pickups and a poly finish, the 60 and above hand-wound E-stamped pickups, the 80 and 100 lacquer over sen ash. It came as a fifties-style maple-neck 54 and a sixties-style rosewood 64, with 58 and 62 models added in 1982.

Versions without a page of their own are read from the model code sellers put in the title. Where we have too few recorded sales of a version to quote one honestly, the column shows what sellers are asking for the ones up now instead. That is a hope, not a sale, and asking prices run above what things fetch. A dash means we have neither.
