About the PRS Dgt
The DGT is a PRS Core model made in Maryland, USA, built on the McCarty with its own neck carve, taller frets, its own pickups and a revised control layout. It has a carved figured maple top on a mahogany back, a one-piece set mahogany neck and a rosewood board with 22 jumbo frets, a 25 inch scale, a 10 inch radius and a 1 21/32 inch nut. Moon inlays are standard and birds an option. Each of the two DGT humbuckers has its own volume control, a push-pull master tone works the coil taps, and the three-way toggle sits back near the bridge. The bridge is PRS's patented Gen III tremolo, with Phase III locking tuners with faux-bone buttons.
For 2020 PRS changed the finish to nitro over a cellulose (CAB) base and made the pickups TCI tuned. The DGT carve is a slightly smaller version of PRS's Wide Fat neck; measured necks are about 0.85 to 0.88 inch deep at the first fret and 0.95 to 0.97 inch at the twelfth. Weighed examples come in at about 7.4 to 8.8 lb (3.35 to 4 kg), most 7.5 to 8.2 lb. It leaves the factory with 11-49 strings, and many owners go down to 10-46. It comes in a PRS hard case with the tremolo arm, hang tags, paperwork and adjustment tools. Pickups and wiring are sometimes changed, so ask whether the original parts come with it. Many have the upgraded 10 Top maple; common finishes include Gold Top, McCarty Sunburst and McCarty Tobacco Sunburst.
