About the PRS SE Mark Holcomb Signature
The SE Mark Holcomb is the SE version of the USA-made Mark Holcomb signature model, a six-string that leaves the factory tuned to Drop C (C, G, C, F, A, D). It has a mahogany body under a maple top with a quilted maple veneer, and a set three-piece maple neck in the Wide Thin carve, satin finished against the gloss body. The bound ebony board has bird inlays, 24 frets, a 25.5 inch scale, a flat 20 inch radius and a 1 11/16 inch nut. Hardware is black chrome, with a PRS plate-style fixed bridge strung through the body and PRS-designed tuners; two Seymour Duncan humbuckers run through one volume, a push-pull tone that splits the coils and a three-way blade switch.
Three changes matter when you buy one. Earlier ones were built in South Korea, later ones in Indonesia. Earlier ones have a beveled top, later ones a redesigned shallow violin carve. And examples up to 2022 carry the Alpha (neck) and Omega (bridge) pickups, while the current version uses Seymour Duncan Scarlet and Scourge humbuckers. Weighed examples come in at about 6.8 to 8.6 lb (3.1 to 3.9 kg), most 7.4 to 8 lb. A new one comes in a PRS SE gig bag. Holcomb Burst, a gray quilt bursting to purple and black, is the usual finish; a limited edition has a satin finish all over. Locking tuners are the most common change, often with a TUSQ or bone nut in place of the plastic one, so ask whether the original parts come with it.
