About the PRS Custom 24 10 Top

The 10 Top is the Custom 24 with a hand-picked maple top that has to show clear figure across the whole top, with no plain patches. The bird inlays are often abalone, hybrid hardware (gold and nickel parts mixed) is an option often paired with it, and some have an ebony fingerboard in place of rosewood.

The early ones differ most. Examples dated 1987 to 1990 have a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and PRS Standard Treble and Standard Bass humbuckers, and the late-1980s ones add a small mini toggle beside the rotary selector. Dated examples from 1989 to 2007 use that five-way rotary selector rather than a blade switch. The later dated changes are short: HFS bridge and Vintage Bass neck pickups on examples from 2004 to 2011; 85/15 pickups, designed for the 30th anniversary, and a V12 finish on examples from 2016; TCI-tuned 85/15s and nitro over a cellulose (CAB) base coat from 2020; lighter wing tuner buttons for 2024; DMO pickups from 2025.

Weighed examples from 1987 to 1990 come in at about 8.2 to 8.4 lb, and those from 2004 on at about 7 to 8.2 lb (3.2 to 3.7 kg). It comes in a PRS hard case with the tremolo arm, a tool, a hang tag and paperwork. Pickups and switching do get changed, so check that the electronics are original.
