About the PRS McCarty 594

The McCarty 594 is a USA-made double-cutaway PRS: a carved maple top over a slightly thicker mahogany back, a set mahogany neck and a bound rosewood board with bird inlays, 22 frets and a 10 inch radius, on the 24.594 inch scale that gives the model its name. The Pattern Vintage neck keeps the widths of the Pattern neck but is a little thicker front to back, with an asymmetrical carve; spec sheets give it as 7/8 inch deep at the first fret and 63/64 inch at the 12th, with a 1 11/16 inch bone nut. Each pickup has its own volume and its own push-pull tone that splits it to a single coil, the volumes sit so both can be rolled off together, and the three-way toggle is on the upper bout. The bridge is the two-piece PRS unit, cast zinc with brass saddles on steel studs and a separate stop tailpiece, and the finish is high-gloss nitro.

Two things changed over the years. The two 58/15 LT humbuckers are low-turn pickups, wound with fewer turns than the standard 58/15; later sets went through the TCI tuning process, and the newest examples carry McCarty III pickups instead. Earlier examples have tweaked Phase III locking tuners with an added set screw that must not be adjusted outside the factory; for 2024 PRS changed to non-locking tuners with lighter Wing buttons. Weighed examples come in at about 7.3 to 8.1 lb (3.3 to 3.7 kg). It comes in a PRS hard case with a certificate of authenticity and case candy.
