About the Gibson Custom Shop Inspired By Slash '87 Les Paul Standard Signed, Murphy Aged
The aged and signed Inspired By is the top version of Gibson Custom's 2008 replica of the artist's 1987 Les Paul Standard, his number one: 100 made worldwide, aged by Tom Murphy and signed by the artist on the back plate, the other version of the run being the VOS. It keeps the three-piece maple top and the cherry burst faded to the original's colour, and came with certificate, checklist, pick and strap locks. One giveaway from the real thing: no dot over the i in the headstock logo.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 24 discussion threads among 28 owners, 2020-2024. No names, nothing quoted.
Owners who have both call the Murphy-aged Jessica far better than an original late 80s three-piece Standard, day and night in feel and sound; one who tried to replace it with an 89 Standard fitted with the same pickups, several R8s and a custom build found none reached it. Asked which they would keep, the aged Jessica or the 58 First Standard, owners vote Jessica by a wide margin, and those who prefer aged guitars find the VOS version too clean. In recorded sound-offs against the aged AFD and the Snakepit, though, most listeners gave the AFD the better bite, with the Jessica praised as more organic and the most comfortable of the three. The standing counter-advice is a real three-piece Standard, built to the same spec into the mid 90s.
