About the Gibson Custom Shop Slash First Standard '58 Les Paul Standard Vintage Gloss
The First Standard is Gibson Custom's 2017 True Historic replica of the artist's own 1958 Les Paul, one of the very first Standards to ship: a plain-top 58 in washed cherry with a full 58 neck profile, slim vintage-correct frets and unpotted Custombuckers rather than his usual Alnico II Pro set, because he did not want the original touched. The VOS version was a run of 150 with a certificate hand-signed by the artist; the aged and signed version a run of 100. Owners with several place its neck between the Jessica and the chunkier Anaconda and AFD.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.
Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 11 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 79 discussion threads among 19 owners, 2019-2024. No names, nothing quoted.
A dealer who handles a lot of Les Pauls calls it one of the best he has tried, a different vintage experience next to the Jessica, which he sees as an improved Standard; a collector who has owned two First Standards and two Brazilian Dreams found the 58 better both times, and another who had three says all were great. Its weakness is the story rather than the guitar: it was rarely seen on stage, so for several collectors it does not define the artist, and in favourite-model polls it sits behind the Jessica, the AFD and the Perry 59. The owners' standing advice to anyone weighing an aged signature model is that a real late 80s Standard costs less.
