About the Gibson Les Paul Classic T
The Les Paul Classic 2017 T is the Classic of the 2017 model year, made in the USA. It has a mahogany back with 9-hole weight relief under a plain A-grade maple top, and a one-piece mahogany neck with a '60s SlimTaper carve and a single-action truss rod. The thick rosewood board has rolled edges, trapezoid inlays and 22 Plek-dressed frets on a 24.75 inch scale, with a 12 inch radius and a 1.695 inch nylon nut. A zebra-coil '57 Classic humbucker sits at the neck and a '57 Classic Plus at the bridge, hand-wired with Orange Drop tone capacitors to two volumes, two tones and a three-way switch, with no coil taps or boost. Hardware is nickel: a wired ABR bridge, an aluminum stop bar and Grover locking kidney-button tuners, with gold speed knobs.
Weighed examples come in at about 8.75 to 10.4 lb (4.0 to 4.7 kg), most between 8.8 and 9.5 lb; necks measure about 0.81 to 0.86 inch deep at the first fret and 0.88 to 0.89 inch at the 12th. It came in a brown Gibson hardshell case with a multi-tool, a leather strap, a polishing cloth and a factory final inspection photo. It had no toggle switch washer, which owners often add. Other usual changes are new pickups, top hat knobs for the speed knobs and keystone or Kluson-style tuners for the Grovers; ask whether the originals come with it. Check the nitro finish for checking and belt-buckle wear on the back. Finishes include Gold Top, Green Ocean Burst and other exclusive colors.
