About the Gibson Les Paul Traditional T
The Les Paul Traditional T is the Traditional of the 2016 and 2017 model years, made in the USA. It has a AA flamed maple top on a mahogany body, a mahogany neck with a rounded '50s profile, a bound rosewood board with 22 frets and trapezoid inlays, a 24.75 inch scale and a 1 11/16 inch nut. The controls are two volumes, two tones and a three-way switch, with no coil taps or push-pull switches. The T went back to vintage-style tuners and the traditional nut width after the 2015 model's robot tuners, zero-fret nut and wider neck.
The 2016 has traditional weight relief, a '57 Classic neck pickup and a '57 Classic Plus bridge pickup, a TekToid nut and a chrome Tune-o-matic and stopbar. The 2017 has a solid body with no weight relief, Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors, a nylon nut and a nickel wired ABR-1 bridge with an aluminum stopbar. Weighed 2016 examples run about 8.3 to 10 lb (3.8 to 4.5 kg), 2017 examples about 8.8 to 9.8 lb (4.0 to 4.4 kg). Measured necks are 0.82 to 0.83 inch deep at the first fret and 0.95 to 0.98 inch at the 12th. It comes in a brown Gibson hardshell case with a multi-tool, a strap and a polishing cloth; the pickguard often comes loose in the case. Pickups, tuners and bridges are often swapped, so ask for the originals; the plastic knobs often crack inside. Finishes include Honey Burst, Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Wine Red, Light Burst and Antique Burst.
