About the Epiphone '59 Les Paul Standard Outfit
The Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard was made in partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop. It has a full-weight mahogany body under a carved maple cap with an AAA flame maple veneer, a one-piece mahogany neck with a long tenon and the fuller '59 rounded medium C profile, and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 24.75 inch scale with a 12 inch radius and a 1.69 inch (43 mm) Graph Tech nut.
There are two versions. Examples dated 2020 to 2022, a limited edition made in China, carry Gibson USA BurstBucker 2 (neck) and 3 (bridge) humbuckers with CTS pots, Mallory capacitors, '50s wiring and Switchcraft parts, an Indian laurel board, a LockTone ABR-1 bridge and stopbar and tulip-key tuners. The later Inspired by Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue has Gibson Custombuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors, a rosewood board, an aluminum stop bar and Keystone-button tuners. Despite the aged gloss name, the finish has a low, satin-like sheen. Standard colors are Aged Dark Burst and Aged Dark Cherry Burst; limited runs include Southern Fade and Lemon Burst. Weighed examples run about 8.2 to 9.4 lb (3.7 to 4.3 kg). It comes in a brown vintage-style hard case with a pink lining and case candy, and a metal Limited Edition medallion covers the toggle cavity on the back. A 2ND stamp on the back of the headstock marks a factory second, a USED stamp a factory-refurbished guitar. Owners often change pickups, tuners and the wiring harness, so ask whether the original parts come with it.
