About the Tokai LC-230S
The LC230S is the Premium Series Les Paul Custom with a maple top, S for maple over the mahogany back, where the plain LC has a mahogany top, a two-piece top on a one-piece back with nitrocellulose lacquer and Sprague Orange Drop capacitors; the Black Beauty (BB) is the finish seen, and a rewired example without Orange Drops and with a changed tailpiece was flagged as not what its seller claimed.
For sale right now
The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 12 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 5 discussion threads among 9 owners, 2021-2024. No names, nothing quoted.
A 2020 LC230S Black Beauty bought after much deliberation as a first Tokai is called bloody beautiful, plays like butter, the quality of finish outstanding, and the owners' verdict was that its buyer would not be sorry and cannot go wrong with any Japanese Tokai.
