About the Tokai Love Rock LS-129
The LS-129 is a Vintage Series Love Rock of the late 2010s and early 2020s, the export model in the range: a two-piece mahogany back under a two-piece maple top, flame on the LS-129F, quilt on the LS-129Q, plain in violin finish or lemon on others, the gold top being the LS122, a one-piece mahogany neck, rosewood board, poly finish, LS-VB bridge and LS-VT tailpiece, PAF Vintage MK2 pickups and Switchcraft switching, the same recipe as the 2003 export Love Rock. There is a black Custom-style LS-129 and a limited all-over-finish Pelham Blue edition of 2022 that came with a certificate. Owners date theirs from 2016 to 2022.

The LS-129 is where the modern Vintage Series earns its praise: new ones played on Denmark Street were a cut above any recent Gibson, a 2021 LS-129 Custom with OX4 pickups and 50s wiring is its owner's best-sounding single-cut ever, and owners say Tokai Japan is the one brand they buy sight unseen, a guitar that can be sold on for what it cost if it disappoints. Owners upgrade freely, Seymour Duncan 59s, OX4 medium winds with 50s wiring, a Duesenberg trem, and the thin poly finish is acknowledged as the thing that puts some people off. Buyers in the United States are pointed to Zenmarket rather than eBay for a purchase from Japan.
