About the Tokai Love Rock LS-160
The LS160 is the Premium Series Love Rock of the late 2000s to mid-2010s, and the LS160S its P90 gold-top sister: a one-piece back, the deep-joint long tenon, a nitrocellulose lacquer that checks with age, the amber-inlay Tokai logo and the brown-and-pink Premium case. Like every Tokai number it is a yen price, so the same guitar was the LS150 in 2010, became the LS173 in 2016 and carries the LS196 specification; the LS160S gold top is today's LS198S and LS220S. Owners date theirs from 2006 to 2014, and a 2012 HLS-160Q from the Hibiki custom shop carries the H prefix. Identification: a Premium is told by the deep joint in the neck-pickup cavity, the one-piece back and the first two digits of the serial for the year. The case was a paid catalogue option, the Premium case or a gig bag until 2010, when a cheaper paisley or black case with a green interior was added for the Vintage Series, and Faber Germany supplies a Lifton-style 59 case, and certificates of authenticity were routinely lost in shop drawers, so a missing one means little.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 15 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 16 discussion threads among 22 owners, 2021-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
The LS160 is called the best bang-for-buck Les Paul there is, with craftsmanship its owner puts above the Greco, Burny, Edwards and Epiphone Elitist that went before; a 2014 became its owner's number one the week it arrived, and one player's P90 LS160S is so resonant, twice as loud unplugged, that a 1980 LS-80 never gets touched. Pickups are the usual change, Gibson 498T and 490R for a hard-rock voice, Area 59 Patent Numbers for one owner who calls the MK2s Tokai's only weak point, Wolfetone in the current equivalent, while others keep them 100 per cent stock.
