About the Tokai LC-235
The LC235 is the Premium Series Les Paul Custom, the Black Beauty, of about 2018 to 2023: a one-piece mahogany body with a mahogany top, an ebony fretboard (the one difference from the LC230), gold hardware, nitrocellulose lacquer, unlabelled PAF MkII pickups, an 18-degree headstock, a warranty card carrying serial and model, and a Lifton-style hard case with pink lining; it was the highest Custom in the 2018 catalogue. Tokyo dealers take custom orders on it, one was built with silver hardware in place of the gold, and dealer-exclusive KLC variants exist. Owners date theirs from 2018 to 2021. Buying from one of the big Japanese stores is far cheaper, one LC235 came in under £1,800 new against about £2,800 in the UK, and the Tokyo dealers take custom orders, six months and full payment up front for one; whether a new guitar comes with a hard case is often the store's cost choice rather than Tokai's, and factory-direct orders are possible with patience.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 10 discussion threads among 19 owners, 2022-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
It plays like a dream and is one of the nicest guitars its owner has; another calls a wine-red one a marvellous thing; asked whether the top-end LC models are as good as people say, owners answer yes, better than production-line Gibsons, comparable to a Custom Shop, flawless, and one player has an LC235 as the main guitar. The stock PAF MkII neck pickup sits flush with or slightly below its ring from the factory, and running it low is normal; it is also the part owners cannot settle with, muddy, hot, prone to feedback, and the MkII is called Tokai's one weak point. Replacements argued over: Seth Lovers (smooth and articulate to one, too Gretsch-like to another), Bare Knuckle Mules, Gibson 57 Classics, Duncan Antiquities, OX4 low-winds and Area 59s; one owner swapped the Orange Drop caps for bumblebees.
