About the Tokai Love Rock LS92
The LS92 is the Vintage Series Love Rock of 2010 and 2011, the LS85 renamed when its list price moved from 85,000 to 92,000 yen, with both names in use on different markets' price lists for a year or so, and today's LS140 in the same slot. It has a two-piece back (the dealer-only LS75 below it had three pieces), a veneer flame or plain top under poly, and came as a gold top, cherry sunburst and brown sunburst; the dimpled headstock marks an export model. Necks before 2011 are the thinner sixties-leaning profile, and from 2011 the standardised fatter one. Owners date theirs to 2010 and 2011. Identification: a seven-digit serial beginning 102 reads like 1981 but is a 2010, the 1981 guitars also started 10, so it is the dimpled headstock, the logo and single-ring tuners that settle it. The model number is stamped in the neck-pickup cavity when it is anywhere, and the seam by the rear strap button tells a two-piece back from the one-piece of the Premium models. Gibson-sized parts fit: a Gibson truss-rod cover and jack plate went straight onto an LS92, regular Les Paul pickup rings fit, Faber Germany carries the original hardware, and Tokai itself will post replacement parts from Japan at reasonable cost.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 15 discussion threads among 26 owners, 2021-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
The LS92 is spoken of as the cheap Japanese Love Rock that gives nothing away in build: the attention to detail is called superb for a model that is not high end, one owner says it plays and sounds great for a low-end model, another that even this tier can stand next to a Gibson Custom Shop build-wise, and the view that every Japanese Tokai comes off the same jigs with the same essential features, the dearer ones only add nicer wood and hardware, is repeated across threads. The one dissent comes from an owner who runs an LS92 gold top beside a Gibson Les Paul Traditional: the Tokai was the Les Paul to have until the Gibson arrived, whose neck feels fuller and more like a Les Paul, though neither guitar is going anywhere. Pickups get swapped as a matter of taste rather than need, Seymour Duncans on one LS92, DiMarzio 26th Anniversary on a 2010 in brown sunburst.
